Meet the Sullivans: Recap: Girls Annual Christmas Party

Recap: Girls Annual Christmas Party

Last Sunday night I hosted a Christmas party for a few of my closest friends. We've had this tradition since high school. This was our 12th Annual Girls' Christmas Party. I have hosted the party several times in the past and was so happy to be hosting again this year! Here are a few pictures of our party:

I set up a little bar or drink area in the kitchen. Wine and champagne for the ladies and water for the prego-lady Allison. I have a cute white tray (from Pier 1 of course!) and I just put some wrapping paper in it to Christmas it up a little! I added a cute little hydrangea plant to the display for its prettiness.

The table all set, but without food! I had the white table cloth, but I bought the napkins, place mats and napkin rings (on sale!) special for this party. I justified the red place mats because I can really use them again since they are not straight out "Christmas" since they're plain.

The red wine glasses (we used them as our water goblets) were my great-great aunt's on my dad's side. My mom used them when we used to have Christmas at her house, but they have been just sitting in her hutch for the past 3 years. She was actually going to (gasp) throw them out! Thank goodness I snatched them up before she did it.

I used the silver cube place card holders from our wedding and red *behavior cards I had from my class to make little place seating cards and stick on rhinestones.

*(Behavior cards are green, yellow or red cards that get turned, very rarely in my room, for poor behavior. Green is Great, Yellow is a Warning, and you can guess what Red means).

For the centerpiece, I wanted to maximize space on the table, so I used a funny shaped vase I had and filled it with red, green and white shinny ornaments and tied a ribbon I had to the base. The tea lights, if you'll notice, are green and red candy cane colored.

The living room all lit up for the party!

Even the bathroom looked nice and cozy!

Our little moving reindeer on the balcony. He moves his head back and forth!

I am so sad that I didn't get more pictures of the girls. When I'm entertaining I feel like I want to be doing a million things at once, cooking, filling drinks, socializing, offering food, that pictures always seem to fall last on my list. From left to right; Allison, who is due with her first baby (BOY!) in April. In the middle is Anne who just got engaged a day before. She told us at the party! It was so very exciting! And on the right is my friend Jackie who got married last May. Gees, lots of babies and weddings.

On to dinner, first course; salad. Butter lettuce, mandarin oranges, glaze pecans, pomegranate seeds and gorgonzola.

Beef tenderloin and au gratin potatoes. I will share both recipes and step-by-steps with you soon.

Ricotta and Vanilla Bean Puddings. These were really yummy! They were so moist and flavorful. I will definitely share this recipe with you!

At the end of the party someone realized we had been so busy having fun and chatting (and playing Dance Central!) that we had completely forgotten to take a group picture. Unfortunately, our friend Jackie had already left, but here are the four of us that remained. There are usually six of us, but my dear friend Nicole, who is also due in April with her first baby boy, was not able to make it out from New York this year.

It was a great party and tons of fun. I was so happy to host this year! We have been so lucky to stay friend for so long!
