Sneak Peak: Friends' Annual Christmas Party

As I told you in a few previous blog posts I am hosting a Christmas party for a few of my closest friends this coming Sunday. We've had this tradition since our Senior year of high school, which means this will be the 12th annual party. I hosted the party the first two years, and since then we have alternated between houses basically going wherever someone is willing to host. We have done sit down dinners, white elephant gift exchanges, appetizer parties, Secret Santa and all sorts of other combinations and variations.

This year we'll be having a sit down dinner, a Secret Santa gift exchange and we have a fabulous theme: "Sparkle". We picked a theme to narrow down gift options so the gift buyer has something to go off of. Two years ago our theme was "Winter Cozy" and it is always fun to see what everyone's interpretations of the theme are.

Here are a few pictures to give you an idea of what I have planned:

You can see some of my inspiration and most of the things I will be making. Here is the dinner menu:

Appetizers: Brie en Croute {My friend Hilary}, the other 3 girls will be bringing the other 3 apps.

Starter: Butter Lettuce Salad with Pomegranate, Mandarin Oranges and Gorgonzola {Me}

Main Course: Roasted Beef Tenderloin with Basil-Curry Mayonnaise {Giada de Laurentiis}
Recipe here.

Update: This was good, but it definitely need to be cooked longer than the recipe states. When all was said and done, it was supper easy and the mayo sauce was delicious!

Side: Roasted Brussels Sprouts {All Recipes}

Side: Mini-Gratin Potatoes {Food Network}
Recipe here.

Dessert:

Ricotta and Vanilla Bean Puddings {Giada de Laurentiis}
Recipe here

Godiva Chocolate Martinis {DrinksMixer.com},

Chocolate Cupcakes with Peppermint Frosting {Cooking Light}.
See my step-by-step, review and the recipe here.
I have been playing around with all of my serving dishes, place settings and table decor. It will be absolutely fabulous. I just can't wait to have it all set out, and have the girls here! Now I'm off to get started with all the prep and house cleaning that needs to be done today so I can be relaxed and ready tomorrow.

Merry Christmas!!
