Meet the Sullivans: I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always

I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always

...as long as I'm living, my Daddy you'll be.

On Saturday January 29th my dad Tim Collins passed away at the age of 56. He had metastatic lung cancer that had spread aggressively throughout his body. During the month that he knew about his disease he was brave, hopeful and strong. He died surrounded by family and close friends, holding my mom's hand. I will miss him everyday for the rest of my life.

I am so sorry and shocked. I lost a dear friend at the end of Dec, and while that's nothing compared to the loss of a father I know what loss and heartache feels like. You and your family will be in my prayers I pray that you and your family are surrounded by love and grace.

Colleen, I found your blog via Beth@The Stories of A to Z, and this post about your father was the first that I happened to see. I am so very sorry for your loss. I lost my dad two years ago this April...the exact same way. He too, only knew about his disease for a short time. The last photos that I have of us together are from my wedding day, and they are so, so precious to me. You are in my thoughts, and I hope that even though the pain is blinding, that you are able to see through it. Though the pain will never completely subside, it will slowly be taken over by the wonderful memories you have of him. Hold them close...and let him continue to live within your heart.

Thank you so much to everyone for your kind words and comforting prayers.

We had my dad's funeral on Thursday and it was beautiful to see and speak with all the friends he had. He was the most popular and well liked guy I've ever known. It was comforting hearing happy stories and talking with others who feel heartbroken over losing my dad. I know he is watching over us.

Again, thank you all for your friendship.
