Meet the Sullivans: 35 weeks down, only 5 weeks to go!

35 weeks down, only 5 weeks to go!

Today we are 4 weeks and 3 days from Baby Sullivan's due date! Here is a look at what our little guy or gal might look like in there!

Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 35 Weeks

Size of baby: Baby is over 18 inches long and tips the scales at 5 1/4 pounds, about the weight of a cantaloupe.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: At my visit with my doctor last week she said I've gained only 1 pound since my last doctor's visit. One pound is like nothing these days! While I've only gained a bit, the baby has continued growing a great pace.

Maternity Clothes: I'm in a bit of a rock and a hard place with clothes right now. I want to buy new things for all the holiday occasions, etc., but nothing in the maternity stores is very cute and frankly, I'm just sick of maternity stuff. There's also the fact that I'm probably only going to be wearing this stuff for 5 weeks or so, so what's the point?

Gender: We're waiting until the baby is born to find out. I'm starting to think this baby is a boy. When people ask why I can't really answer. I just have a feeling that all these strong bull in a china shop movements are that of my little guy.

Names: We have names for a boy and girl ready to go!

If the baby is a boy we'll name him Owen Edward. We loooove this name. We had a few boy names in the running, but a few months ago Owen won. Its a nice Gaelic name and we don't know anyone named Owen. Edward is Keith's middle name, and the middle name of all the Sullivan boys.

If the baby is a girl we'll name her Emily Elizabeth. I've loved the name Emily for a long time and I'm happy Keith likes it too. Elizabeth was my mom's mom's name and I think it's just beautiful. If any of you are familiar with the Clifford books you'll probably remember that the little girl in the books is named Emily Elizabeth.

Movement: The baby is growing big and strong and our little one has run out of space, so the movements are very strong and pronounced. I can feel pressure on the inside of my hip bones and in my rib cage at the same time from what are probably feet and the baby's head.

Sleep: I've been sleeping pretty well besides the 2-3 trips to the bathroom in the middle of the night and the occasional heartburn. It really helps that I'm so tired I feel like I could sleep at anytime of the day. I've been going to bed before 9 o'clock most nights.

What I miss: Well, I miss being able to move like I used to, and I am really looking forward to being able to lift things and wear high heels. I just really can't wait to hold this baby in my arms.

Cravings: Water!

Symptoms: This is kind of funny because I could go on forever about all the "signs" that I'm pregnant, you know, like the giant belly and the movement I feel inside, the heartburn, etc., but I think I've had it pretty easy the past for the past 8+ months.

Best Moment this week: There have been lots of good moments in the last week!

Last weekend we bought some baskets and a shelving unit for the baby's closet. It feels good to have more space to organize all the tiny little baby things.

On Tuesday we went for a tour of the birthing center at the hospital. Seeing the rooms and the facility made me feel a little nervous, but excited at the same time. Can't believe we'll be there within in the next month!

On Wednesday at my appointment the doctor said she is very happy with how I'm doing and how the baby is growing. I have another appointment next week and then I'll be seeing my doctor every week until the baby is here.

On Thursday we went to a nursing class at the hospital. We didn't think Keith would need to be there but I'm really glad he came. All of the information about nursing and feeding cues are important for both of us to know and understand. There were lots of other dads there too, so Keith didn't feel out of place.

And of course feeling our little one move and wiggle is always a highlight of any day and week!
