For as
long as I've known Keith he has had the same car. You know how someone's
car symbolizes them? Well, Keith's white Jeep has always been so "him"
to me.
That Jeep is the car he drove to pick me up for our first date.
It is where we had our first kiss after he dropped me off a few dates later.
When
we were dating I used to be able to tell he was pulling up to my
parent's house to pick me up because I would recognize the sound of his
engine, and because my family's dog Conan would do excited spins in front of the door in anticipation of Keith's arrival.
It's the car we drove in on many trips to Disneyland and Carmel.
It
had a San Diego State University Sticker in the back window that looked
as though it had been there for years, but Keith refused to remove it.
So many good memories...
But, it is also the car that hasn't
been very reliable for the past year, leaving my poor husband stuck on
the side of the road or freeway.
And,
the door to the trunk hasn't been able to stay up on its own for years
now, requiring Keith or I to hold it up while the other loads up the
groceries.
And with a baby on the way, it just
wasn't smart to keep it going any more. So, Keith started looking for a
new car. We test drove GMCs, Chevys, Toyotas, Fords, Acuras with our
growing family in mind, but nothing felt just right.
But finally Keith found the right car, a
2012 Jeep Grand Cheerokee. He loves it and so do I. He says it feels
like his old Jeep, but better and more reliable. Its a safe car for the
baby, we can fit more than one car seat in the back and still have room
in the trunk for stuff. The color is just right and it has all the
modern bells and whistles. I'm so happy with what Keith picked and he is
too, which is what matters most.

New cars are so fun! And yes, they definitely become a part of your memories and part of a person. Funny that you settled on a newer model of what you had. :)
