Meet the Sullivans: Brownie Oreo Trifle

Brownie Oreo Trifle

I grew up in a really wonderful very kid friendly neighborhood. My very best friends lived just steps away from my house and our families got together weekly for barbecues and went on vacations together. We were like family Kathee and I would beg to play outside with our little gang of friends from sunrise until sunset. Sadly a lot of the families have since moved on (kids grow up and go to college, and parents relocate), but I'm happy to say we've kept in touch with our closest friends! On Saturday my mom invited a few old neighborhood friends over to her house for lunch at her house and to meet Owen. We had a nice time visiting and I'm so glad I was able to introduce him to them!
My mom made lunch and I offered to make dessert. I jumped at the opportunity since I had seen this recipe on Pinterest last week and my Aunt Lesley had just given me a trifle bowl (similar) that had belonged to my grandma!

Brownie Oreo Trifle

1 9x13 pan of brownies (I used Ghirardelli)
1 small box chocolate pudding
1 quart heavy whipping cream

1/4 cup sugar
25 oreos, chopped
9 oreos for garnish

Bake brownies as directed. Cool completely and chop into bite size squares.

Prepare pudding according to directions on the box. Mix until smooth. Combine 1/4 cup sugar with heavy cream and whip until peaks form and mixture thickens.
Fold 8 oz of whipped cream into pudding until there are no streaks.

Chop 25 Oreos and set aside.

In a trifle bowl, layer half of the brownies, half of the pudding mixture, half of the Oreos, and half of the whipped cream. Repeat each layer.

You could also make the trifles in smaller individual sized bowls like these mini-dessert bowls!

Garnish the top with 3 whole Oreos and 6 crushed Oreos with filling taken out.

I even made a little mini one for Keith to enjoy since he wasn't able to make it for lunch!

I've used a different recipe in the past, but wanted to try something different tonight and found yours. Amazing!! Kids LOVED it - I think our old recipe has been replaced!
