Meet the Sullivans: Smooth & Suppple

Smooth & Suppple

Costco isn't the most glamourous place to find a good wine (neither is Target for that matter!), but when  you have a baby in tow you really really value any one stop shopping opportunities. Owen was asleep in the stroller, so we really took our time picking a good wine for Sunday night.

We love a good red, and this one did not disappoint. We sampled Malbecs before at a wine bar, but had never purchased one ourselves before-- they're spicy and fruity all at the same time. Delish!

Bodega Norton Malbec Reserva 2009

winemaker's notes:
Deep red color with hints of purple. Expressive on the nose with notes of ripe black fruits, violets, and tobacco. This wine has round and sweet tannins, ripe red fruit and figs followed by a long finish. Made with 100 % Malbec.

a few facts:
Wine Enthusiast gave it 89 points.

Described as smooth and supple.

From Argentina, South America.

Sold at Costco, World Market and

14.6% alcohol by volume

Around $15 a bottle.

critical acclaim:
"The 2009 Reserve Malbec spent 12 months in first and second use French oak. Expressive aromas of sandalwood, exotic spices, mocha, cherry cola, and assorted black fruits lead to an elegantly styled, nicely proportioned, plush Malbec that will perform optimally from 2013 to 2021. It, too, is an excellent value."

our thoughts:
We both enjoyed this wine and would buy it again! I liked the spiciness and bitter mocha flavors.
