Meet the Sullivans: Owen's Nursery

Owen's Nursery

Our little man is inching closer and closer to nine months old, so I think it's about time I share his nursery with all of you! Don't you?

Long before I became pregnant I knew that I wanted our gender neutral nursery to have Pottery Barn Kids' Peter Rabbit bedding. I'm so glad that when it finally became time to decorate the room for our baby the bedding was still available. The set was the first thing I bought for our little baby.

It took us quite some time to pick the color for the walls. We tried beiges, blues and yellows before settling on this color. I don't remember what it's called but only that it was "hay" something and from Kelly-Moore. Yellow was the final choice because it coordinated with the sage / white / beige we already had going with the bedding. I also knew I would easily be able to add in pink or blue when we had the baby.

Over the crib we hung a baby blue and white striped, polka dot and gingham bunting I ordered off Etsy from Nestables. It took me quite a while to decide what to hang above the crib since I wanted whatever it was to safe and not a safety hazard. FYI The bunting is nailed to the wall, and can only come down if the nails are pried out with a hammer.

On the wall above the dresser we hung a personalized Might Oaks print I ordered off Etsy from Early Bird Ink. It says "mighty oaks from little acorns grow", as well as his full name, birth date, birth weight and length. The frame was purchased separately from Cheap Pete's

The teddy bear lamp was painted by my grandma and was in my baby room when I was little.

The dresser is from Lane Furniture and was mine when I was a baby. It originally had a dark finish. I wanted it be white to match the rest of the furniture, so Keith striped it and gave it a few layers of paint.

For the crib we chose the Graco Lauren convertible crib and coordinating changing table. The baskets on the changing table are also Pottery Barn Kids and the green gingham matches the bumper and bed skirt. I'm still trying to figure out what to put above the changing table that wouldn't be heavy or "dangerous".

Check out the little cutie that snuck into the photo!

We bought the shelves at Target. They're the classic wall shelf in white. They were actually pretty easy to hang and I was able to do it myself. No power tolls involved!

I bought the green "bless this room" sign from Zulily, and so it's no longer available on their site but you can find a similar one here.

The I am a Child of God print from Etsy seller Sugar Fresh in custom color cornflower blue.

The sweet little porcelain baby bootie is personalized with his name and birth details and was a gift from his great Aunt Irma. I have one just like it from my grandmother.

I don't remember the brand of our glider, but its the one that so many people have. I had my eye on a very large upholstered one, but it wouldn't have fit in the room, especially if I wanted the matching ottoman. I spend a lot of time rocking Owen in that chair, and it's comfortable enough and serves it's purpose.

We spend lots of time in his room playing and dancing, rocking and reading. He seems to love it as much as I do.

There are still a few things I need to add to the room or change:

*I'm on the lookout for some curtains and something for above the changing table.

*I've been considering trying to make some bookends to display some of his larger books on the dresser.

*I'm going to hang a few 4x4 shots from Instagram that I ordered through Postalpix on the strip of wall behind the glider.

*And although Keith worked really hard on the dresser, the polyurethane we used to give it a gloss gave it a yellowish color, so I'm considered refinishing that again.

Anyway, I hope you've enjoyed seeing Owen's room!

I have the same dresser from when I was a child! And the taller one too. My husband refinished them into espresso to match our daughters furniture and they are in her room now too!!!! Cheers from a Bay Area mama also!
