Reads for Your Weekend + Our Fresh New Look

How do you like our new look? I'm so happy with the bright cheerful colors and the custom touches! If you're looking for a great new look I highly recommend Designer Blogs. They have lots of $15 looks that you can instal yourself if you're looking for a quick change.

I read so many blog posts each week that they begin to meld together in my mind. When one really sticks out to me I flag it in Feedly so I can come back to it later. There is nothing that frustrates me more than wanting to re-read a certain post but not being able to find what blog it was on or when it was written.

Here are some of my favorites from the past ten days or so:

Tips to running errands with kids without losing ALL of your sanity -just a little- by Natalie from The Busy Budgeting Mama - Taking Owen to Target used to be a fun outting. Used to be. I like Target, he would ride peacefully in the cart or his stroller and people watch. Well, ever since he became mobile (at 10 months) he wants OUT!!!! of whenever I have strapped him in. If I let him out all hell breaks lose and I get nothing done during that trip. These tips from Natalie will surely make our outings more easy going.

Honestly... by Julie from The Girl in the Red Shoes - I love Julie's post about how life with a baby is  messy and exhausting, and particularly frustrating for a control freak who likes things just SO. I can so relate to this because I still want things to be perfect (I want to be dressed in clean clothes, have clean hair, clean floors and dinner on the table --is that too much to ask?!), but I've let it go because although I want cleanliness and neatness I really want a happy baby boy who gets to play with his mama.

Honeybee Health: My Weekly Food Prep by Andee from The Honeybee - I tried doing what Andee does this week, prep healthy foods in advance, so that we'll eat a bit healthier during the week. It has really made throwing together salads or snacks so much easier. I love hearing food tips from real people who seem to have it all down.

Precautionary Tale by Samma from Spice & Sass - This is a re-cap of the frantic afternoon in which Samma accidentally locked be sweet baby girl in the car. It brought me back to when I locked Owen in the car. Reading Samma's story I felt all the emotions (terror, panic, guilt, embarrassment, worry) rise back up inside me. I just liked this because it was honest, and it takes some courage to share your mistakes. I was talking to a few other moms I know and it turns out many of us have done it. Thank goodness for neighbors, the fire department and spare keys!

Tried & True Toddler Recipes by Lyndsey of Life. Laughter. Love. Loflands - Owen is a notoriously picky eater. Sometimes he'll eat yogurt, sometimes it's just cheese and crackers, and then he'll surprise us all and eat a strawberry. Lyndsey and some momma friends got together and shared some toddler approved meals at a play date. Each mom and child got to test the recipe first at the get together and then everyone took the recipes home. I think this is such a great idea! This way you can see what your little guy / gal will eat without buying and making all the meals. Genius!

3 Words for the Graduates by Emily of Chatting at the Sky - So appropriate and so beautifully written. This is a perfect post for any and all graduates. The future is yours, go after it!

What did you read this week that spoke to you? Something inspiring?

We're in full fledged party mode today getting ready to celebrate Keith's 34th birthday with friends and family tonight. We'll be BBQing, playing and drinking Mai Tais in this hot hot California weather!

See you Monday, friends!
