Meet the Sullivans: Children's Discovery Museum of San Jose

Children's Discovery Museum of San Jose

When Keith came home from his camping trip Sunday evening we decided we really wanted to a have a fun family day together on Monday. We wanted to take Owen to a place where he could just PLAY, a place where we didn't need to restrict him or prohibit him from having fun. We did a bit of research and found Children's Discovery Museum of San Jose to sound like a GREAT place for kids his age, and it WAS!

The whole place is great for kids of any age, but is really fun for toddlers too! While they don't really understand the science and details behind most exhibits, they still have fun with all of the sights, sounds and new things around them.

At the very beginning of the museum there is a "streets" exhibit that includes some of the people and systems that keep a city moving smoothly. Owen loved getting to climb aboard and explore the firetruck and ambulance.

Seeing the plane spin round and round!

One of Owen's favorite parts of the museum is the plane that spins around above you as you turn the crank to make it go. How funny is that last picture of Keith glancing over his shoulder and Owen taking the opportunity to run in the opposite direction? Story of our lives!!!

Owen wasn't incredibly interested in the Mammoth Discovery exhibit. He actually didn't want to go in without holding his momma's hand. It was dark in the room, and I think the large mammoth intimidated him.

The Curious George exhibit is perfect for young toddlers too. He had fun exploring all of the colorful little houses and set ups. The was a section for miniature golf, which he loved, but eventual the golf clubs were weaponized, so we had to ditch them and move on.

Using the wind machines to fill the windsock with air and turn the windmill!

This little spot was lots of fun too! The kids have to find the foam cubes among all of the other shapes before they can load them into the conveyor belt.  All the kids seemed to really enjoy watching the cube they loaded into the machine work its way up the belt and the fall out the other end. Owen looked so proud!

This is what happens when you try to take a posed picture with your toddler. Total fail!

In hopes of not boring you with all of my (many, many) pictures in one day, I'm going to end it there. Tomorrow I'll show you MY favorite part of the museum!

Oh so fun! Owen looks like he is having the time of his life! We have a children's museum by us and I can't wait for Hudson to be old enough to enjoy it. I wish our boys could play together!
