Owen's 18 Month Favorite Things

It seems like we are always on the look out for the next great toy that will come into Owen's life. We love classic wooden toys, ones that develop learning skills or anything that encourages him to be active. I always enjoy seeing what other kids his age like, because it gives me a better sense of what will get, and KEEP his little attention span. All too often we've bought a toy thinking he would love it only to take it home and have him never look at it again.

Here is my list of the toys that are on the top of Owen's MUST PLAY with list:

1. B. Rrroll Model Boogie Bus -We picked this toy up at Barnes and Noble one afternoon when we were really looking for books. Owen loved that the bus drives all on its own (push a button and it zooms off). He loves getting it going and then running after it!

2. Melissa & Doug Farm Animal Train - What little boy doesn't looove trains? Like most toddlers his age he likes making the animals noises of all the animals riding on his choo choo. This is a great classic toy that he'll play with for years!

3. Crayola 48 Count Sidewalk Chalk - We love drawing with sidewalk chalk! After afternoon nap time (usually while dinner is baking / simmering) we'll head out front and draw with chalk. The great thing about this is that we all enjoy this activity!

4. Strider ST-4 No-Pedal Balance Bike - This is a recent addition to Owen's favorite toys / activities, but it is a BIG one. Every morning, soon after his dada leaves for work, he asks for his bike. He is such a good boy and always asks for his "hat" (helmet) first. This is a really fun toy right now, because eventually he'll learn to ride on it!

5. Toddler Plastic Golf Set - We bought this toy for Owen in the early Spring, but he has recently taken to it in a good way (i.e. not just trying to wack mommy with it). We play "golf" (much more like hockey) with it in the evening after dinner. This activity really tires us all him out!

6. Melissa & Doug Wooden Food Slicing - I think Owen likes this toy so much because he loves to do whatever he sees us doing, and we do a lot of cooking. He even says "knife" when we want to play with it. Kinda scary and funny that one of the words on my toddler's pretty short list of words is knife. But really, it's a great toy!

Do you children have any favorite toys? What are your favorite toys from your childhood?

Love this post! My little guy is only 8 months, but it's fun to see what older kids like! Noah's just now starting to really enjoy some of his toys. It's fun to see what captures his interests!

This is great! Our boys are the same age so this gave me a few new ideas. My son, Campbell, loves bubbles so we do that a lot in the evenings. I'm interested to see if he'd take an interest in sidewalk chalk... I know I would :)

I really think my O would love that train and animal set. He has become obsessed with one of his train books in the past week or so. He definitely loves the Little People Bus! The bike has me so intrigued.. maybe in a few months? Thanks for sharing!

I'm with Emily --- definitely thinking about that bike - it might be perfect for Jackson at this age (just turned 2)!

And ps - I swear I haven't forgotten about you! Sending another Target gift card, but ordering it online through them to make sure it gets there! :)

Hope you and sweet Owen are having a good week!
