Just a Boy After His Momma's Heart

What's new with Owen? Where do I even begin?

I think I told you all last week that Owen and I are having so much fun together these days. We're staying really busy, but in a good way. Not all in a running errands, obligations and tasks kind of way, but in a going to the park, taking fun classes, reading books on the floor and getting messy with finger paints kind of way.

What's new with Owen...

He's finally eating some more healthy foods. Up until last week he would only take in fruits and veggies in a smoothie or the occasional apple. Right now he's really into baby carrots (the really thin kind), sliced strawberries (at least 6 at a time) and bananas. I knew he'd come around! He's also picked up the whole chocolate thing. He asks for it by name. Mini M&Ms are his favorite.

He's counting to three! It all started when we would walk down the stairs in our house together, counting one two three as we took the steps to keep him focused on watching his step. Now he counts to three when he's jumping off a step, throwing a ball, etc.

When he is about to do his business he tells us "away, away", which I can totally understand because everyone likes their privacy, and every once in a while he'll throw in a "sowee" (sorry) in there too, which just makes the whole thing even more adorable. He apologizes when he wants to got potty on his own? Bless his sweet little heart.

He can be a little bossy these days, but always with great intentions. Each morning this week he has requested to go to the park within 30 minutes of daddy leaving for work. I always take him up on the idea. When he wants more snack he'll say, "Momma? Mooooe? (more). And my favorite, "Mama, SIT!"

Keith started playing this game with his where they hide a Mickey Mouse under the blankets and say, "Mickey, where are you?" before finding him. Soon after learning the game with daddy, Owen started asking "Mama, are you?" (leaving out the where). It melts my heart when he says this, because it sounds so cute coming out of his mouth.

Ever since we came home from Disneyland and Keith introduced Owen to Mater's Tall Tales he wants to watch it non stop. One of his favorite things to do is cuddle up on Mommy and Daddy's bed with a baba and watch Mater.

Just this week he started naming and pointing out he stop signs as when we're in the car. I don't know where he picked this up, but we're so proud of him for recognizing them!

Owen has a little cold (complete with some awful bloody snot -- yuck) otherwise we'd be heading to Gymboree this morning followed by story time at our favorite book store, but instead we're going to go spread our germs get some fresh air at the park instead.
