Meet the Sullivans: What's New

What's New

It's finally October! My glass pumpkins (I've bought one every October since we've been married at the Half Moon Bay Pumpkin Festival) have been out for a week or more, but this year they had to be relocated to a higher up shelf in the living room. Owen likes looking at them just as much as I do and calls them "mamas pumpkins". I can't wait to add another one to my collection in a few weeks!

Longer naps. Until recently the 2-3 hour toddler nap was, to me, like unicorns and pots of gold. I've always heard they existed, but never experience them myself. Until NOW! Owen has been a really great napper for the past few days ...hope I'm not speaking too soon -- a few days does not a habit make. I'm not doing anything different with him and his night time sleep is still pretty much the same, so I don't know what's up, but I'm just going to sit back and enjoy it.

Speaking of sitting back and enjoying things, let's talk TV. I'm so glad all my shows (Nashville, Modern Family, SNL, The Walking Dead) are coming back yada yada yada, but I didn't miss them too much cause I've really been enjoying watching episodes of Veep, Girls and Orange is the New Black back-to-back-to-back on Netflix + HBO Go. Totally time suck, but I've been enjoying it.

I signed up for Influenster a while back. I received my first vox box came a few weeks ago and it was for Sargento Cheese. Owen's favorite food group is dairy (milk, cheese, ice cream), so this was perfect for us. I was able to take the coupon they so kindly included and pick up a 12 pack of Sargento Cheddar-Mozzarella cheese sticks. They even sent a little insulated cheese stick holder, which I think is kind of funny -- who keeps a single stick of cheese in a handy little insulated container in their purse diaper bag? I guess I will! We love these cheese sticks for a great snack on the go! These products were sent to me complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.

Date nights. We went out for a date night last Sunday, just the two of us! We went to Milagros Cantina, which we seriously enjoyed! I had the Mexican Hipster (jalapeno infused el jimador blanco, muddled cucumbers, fresh citrus juices), and it was fantastic. I'd like to recreate it sometime soon. I had two tacos for dinner and the Crispy Coconut Shrimp one was amazing.

#youknowyouareoldwhen. I just bought a set of these Flip and Tumble Reusable Produce Bagslast night and I can't wait for them to arrive. I've been trying really hard to be more diligent about composting food scraps, leftovers we don't eat etc., recycling bags and such, but I never know what I should do with the plastic produce bags I come home with after a grocery trip -- so I bought these and I think they'll be great. I'll let you know.

Man on the Moon. We bought Owen's Halloween costume and he's going to be an astronaut this year! We have a few Halloween related events on the calendar and I wanted something that was fun and functional. I like this costume because he can wear it in the car, it's comfortable for playing and easy for diaper changes. And also, it's perfect because Owen love the moon and he's always asking to see it.

So what's new with you this week?

I buy them at the Half Moon Bay Pumpkin Festival every year. I bet you could find some blown glass pumpkins at fall craft festivals in your area!

Those pumpkins are gorg!! Lex does 2.5 hours consistently... And I seriously get mad if she gives me less because the 2.5 is diiiivine. Yay Owen!!! I have those produce bags (but use them for lex's puzzles. Lame right?). And I LOVE Owens Halloween costume!!!!!

I love the pumpkin tradition!! I need to start on here....hmmm ;) I can't wait to see Owen in the astronaut costume - too cute!

PS I cannot wait for Cam to switch to one LONG nap...he's averaging two 40 minute naps! Gah!

I love that he calls them "Mama's pumpkins" My mother-in-law collects these as well but she gets them from a glass blowing studio in Richmond that is only a couple of times a year. I guess it looks like a dingy old wearhouse from the outside and when you walk in it's all sorts of magical. http://www.cohnstone.com

I have been wanting buy produce bags too, maybe now I will! Also, that costume is adorable. I've been stressing about what Liam will be... If I don't end up making anything I might have to get this'

Those pumpkins are so pretty! Lol how funny that they have a cheese insulator - I've often told myself I wish that exhausted because sometimes string cheese is the only cold thing I'm carrying!
Date nights are the best and those tacos look so good - glad you enjoyed yourselves!
Have a good day!!

I think you have to earn certain badges and answer some questionnaires. Then eventually they'll send you an email letting you know your first vox box is on its way.

Thanks! I really cherish them and look forward to bringing them out each year.

They are! I'm so thankful for this good napping streak.

I used it yesterday and it really did come in handy for Owen, so maybe it's not as silly as I thought it was!

Honestly I kind of miss the two nap thing! The grass is always greener!

My little guy (almost 5 months) just started sleeping through the night last week. I've not wanted to really tell anyone yet, afraid I might jinx it! But it has been GLORIOUS for mama!
Love the costume!
