Five on Friday | Christmas Sheets and Playdough

Morning! I'm linking up with the lovely ladies behind The Good Life, Carolina Charm, A. Liz Adventures, and Hello Happiness for 5 on Friday today.

This is a really random list of things that came to mind as I sat down to write this post:

- ONE -
I hate when nap time gets interrupted and get seriously pissed when someone wakes my child from his nap, or distracts me from my goal of doing glorious noooothing during that hour (to hour and a half). I also feel completely selfish and guilty when I want to rip the UPS delivery man's head off when he knocks (loudly) on the door almost waking Owen and tearing me away watching Nashville from my cozy spot on the couch. The person who calls and wants to talk while O's sleeping? I don't answer. I guess I feel like nap time is my "me time", and I really enjoy it and I'm overly protective of it. It's not healthy, these feelings. Anyone else feel this crazy "Nap time is MINE!! rage" that I feel?

- TWO -
I'm going to decorate Owen's room for Christmas this year. I bought these sheets from Pottery Barn Kids and they inspired the whole idea. I'm working on a little garland for above the crib to put in place of his blue bunting and I may have already bought a few things from the Christmas section at Target.... Having said that, I'm beginning to feel anxious about Christmastime. Don't get me wrong, I love Christmastime, and maybe that's the problem. I love it too much. So much actually, that I build it way up in my head that I want to do this and that, make this, decorate that, buy that for her / him, watch that, etc. that I'm worried I won't be able to make it all happen in the 25-ish days of Christmas. #firstworldproblems

- THREE -
Owen and I made play dough for the first time yesterday. I'm probably the last blogging mom to do this, but it was so fun and simple I'm happy to share the recipe if anyone wants it. AND It has been too long since I've written a solely Owen-related post, but worry not, there is one coming next week because our boy will be 22 months on Monday! Also, I'd like to point out that Owen wore a Halloween t-shirt all day yesterday. Some people are already decorated for Christmas and I'm the lady at the park with the kid in Halloween clothes in mid-November. See? I just can't keep up!

- FOUR -
We have a date night planned for this weekend and I'm SO excited!!! I love dating my husband and just catching up without that other sweet man in my life interrupting us with "Mama! Mama!! MAMA!!??". We're going to a cool pizza place and to see Saving Mr. Banks. Should be a great movie!

- FIVE-
Making this pretty little concoction (Limoncello Raspberry Prosecco Cooler) is on my short list of to-do's this weekend! It looks so pretty and refreshing. I imagine it would be the perfect cocktail for a holiday cocktail party too!

I'm totally the same way about nap time! That is my only moment of peace! Sounds like you need a please do not knock/ring doorbell sign on your door!

Have a fabulous time on your hot date! ;) I cannot wait for hubby's schedule to slow down so we can get back to dating! Right now our date nights are spent at the football stadium! Haha

I could have written this entire post!!!!! Nap time, Christmas, date night...however, I am the last blogging mom to not make play dough!! I guess I have to get on that. ;)

You have inspired me to drink something other than wine/beer at home...I am going to make myself a fancy cocktail and enjoy it in front of the fire while watching HGTV. :) Haha!!!

Enjoy your weekend and date night!!!!

I can't wait to see Owens room decorated! He's going to love it!! And I'm the same way- the poor dog has gotten yelled at for barking at the ups man so many times he knows if he doesn't see the baby- he doesn't bark! Nap time = me time. I some days also wish it = cocktail time too.

That's what I miss about that glorious second nap! It usually happened right when I was making dinner, so I'd often enjoy it with a glass of wine! Now cooking dinner is a circus!!!

You should make the play dough today! It's so easy and you probably have all the ingredients! It's just 2 c warm water, 2 cups flour, 1 cup salt, 1 tbsp cream of tartar and 2 tbsp vegetable oil.

Enjoy your fancy cocktail and a great weekend!!

I feel the same exact way about Christmas!! There is always too much that I want to do, see, bake, create, etc. I think I'm going to make a list this year. And I really want to make an advent calendar but I haven't the faintest idea where to start! I can't wait to see how Owen's room turns out! Oh, and, YES, I feel that way about nap time too!!

I want to decorate Liam's room as well, but since he rarely sleeps in there I may have to settle for the playroom. I LOVE Christmas too but it gives me a little anxiety because I want things to go perfectly. You're not alone.

I'm fiercely protective of nap time! I need some mama time and so help the person who interrupts it!

That drink sounds amazing! And yes, I'm with you on the naptime...on weekends its my time to get things done! (Even if they also involve watching Nashville on the couch!)

I've never decorated a bedroom for the holidays, but I'm loving all of the holiday bedding I've seen in stores. I've been tempted, but I'm too practical and too much on a budget to actually make the purchase. Boo!

I love the sheets and that you are decorating his room for Christmas. I haven't made play dough yet, no worries there are still a few in the slow lane.

I am SO with you on nap time. Why does everyone and their dog seem to call during nap time?

You have inspired me to find some Christmas crib sheets. What a fun idea! Also our boys are super close in age (maybe a couple weeks) so I look forward to reading your 22 month update. It's a crazy stage for sure!!

Totally agree about nap time. I do not want to be interrupted. It's my time. I made pumpkin play dough back in October and Connor loved it with Halloween cookie cutters. Now we are using Thanksgiving ones. I totally bought Connor some wintery/festive flannel sheets from Target. Much better price tag than PBK but those Grinch and Elf on the Shelf ones are sooooo darn cute!

LOVE date nights! :) Have so much fun and cannot wait to hear about the cocktail. I love me some prosecco!

I've been looking everywhere for some fun festive flannel crib sheets. That PBK sheet was sold out online last time I looked! It looks super cute though!
