Earlier this week I shared some ideas over on Jen's blog, Down with the Dearmore's, for hosting a Mother's Day brunch and I thought it might be nice to share them over here too in case anyone missed it!
I love to cook a great meal for the people I love and entertaining family and friends is one of my favorite things! Whether your planning a brunch for your own mother (or mother-in-law!) or hoping for your own breakfast in bed I've got some delicious options for you! It's all in the presentation!
Here are some great ideas for how you can make simple feel really special!
|Lazy Sunday Mimosas| These mimosas take your traditional orange juice + champagne concoction up a notch by subbing the OJ for pineapple and blood orange juices. The pink sanding sugar rim brings it all together! I would prepare a pitcher of these in my Ona pitcher (also rimmed with the sanding sugar!) to keep on the table!
|Rainbow Fruit Skewers|
Fruit salad is a staple brunch item in our house, but it's usually just
cut up fruit tossed on the plate along the main event. You can skewer
the fruits the night before and pull them out in the morning. They're
also easier to serve this way!
|Bacon, Egg & Toast Cups| Scrambled or fried, eggs never look as fancy as you'd like them too, and Mother's Day is the day to take things up a notch. These egg cups present a single serving of egg +bacon +toast in a neat and clean fashion.
|Baked French Toast| What I love most about this french toast, besides its deliciousness, is that it can be made in advance! Prepare the dish but don't bake it yet, instead, cover it up and store it in the refrigerator overnight. In the morning top it with pecans and bake it. Your house will smell amazing!
|Chocolate Covered Coffee Spoons| This is a sweet little touch that even kids will enjoy (and help with!). You can let little ones help do the dipping and candy sprinkling. They're simple and special, and make a nice presentation!
Remember, it's all in the details...
+Entertaining is all about knowing your guests and anticipating their
needs. I can tell you all day about great dishes to make, but it you
know your mom prefers blueberry pancakes and a bloody mary, by all means
skip my advice!
+Have her favorite
coffee creamer on hand, a special coffee mug for her and a flower
arrangement for the table she can take home with her.
+Play her favorite relaxing music and display a few photos of you together when you were a child.
+And really, don't stress yourself too much over all the details! Your mom loves you to the end of the earth and back and she just wants to spend this day with you :)
I hope that however you spend Mother's Day that you have a wonderful time with the people you love!
