Weekend Wrap Up
Friday - Owen and I had a successful trip to Costco to stock up for Keith's 35th Annual Birthday BBQ. Owen doesn't always want to stay in the cart while I shop, which is okay if I have someone to help me shop or chase him, but we were on our own this day and I had a ton of things to buy. Luckily he stayed in the cart for the entire trip!
We celebrated our nephews Brandon's 8th grade graduation on Friday night and we all had a wonderful time. They had the party catered by a favorite local Mexican restaurant (genius -- totally looking into that next time we have a big party), and they have a great outdoor space with a finished garage for all the kids to hang around in. Owen loves socializing with all the big boys and his older cousins, but he really really loved the self serve lemonade that he could serve himself. Every time we took our eyes off him for a second he would be over at the drink station filling his cup up. Everyone had a great time!
Saturday - Keith was off on Saturday, so he was able to help with the party preparation. That night we celebrated his birthday with a bunch of our friends and family that evening. We barbequed and ate lots of good food, hung out and drank this awesome sangria I made. I'll be sharing the recipe later this week!
Sunday - We went to the zoo on Sunday, and it was blazing hot! All the animals seemed too tired and hot to move, so they weren't super entertaining. We all had a favorite animals that day Keith's were the spider monkeys, Owen's were the tigers and little frogs and Colleen I liked the elephants.
After spending the morning at the zoo we headed to Fenton's Creamery for a late lunch Late lunch / dinner. Owen was such a good boy and was in the silliest mood. He switched baseball caps with Keith and thought it was the funniest thing ever. We let him have a chocolate milkshake and he sucked the entire thing down in our gulp. I swear.
There was a little wait for a table at Fenton's so, like we always do when we're there, we visited Myrtle's Lodge, the cute old fashioned nostalgic toys and gifts store across the street. We bought Owen a Buzz Lightyear Golden Book and I picked up this cute cookbook with a bunch of old-fashioned pie recipes! I can't wait to try some of them out!
On Monday it was Keith's actual birthday, so we started the say with cinnamon rolls with sprinkles + a few rounds of Happy Birthday!!! and coffee followed by our usual: gym, swim and the grocery run! And that was the weekend, and now I need a weekend from the weekend :)
