September 5, 2014

So glad to see you, Friday!

Hooray, the weekend is here! I'm linking this post up with a gaggle of wonderful people, so go check them and all the other linkersup too! September Farm, The Farmer's Wife, A Little Bit of Everything, Grace and Love, and Momfessionals!

1. Earlier this week I showed you how we've been using Stuck on You® labels to label O's things for school, and today I'm excited to be giving away four $25 vouchers to Stuck on You! All you have to do is use the Rafflecopter widget below to enter. Four separate winners will be drawn and the winners will be announced next Friday.

2. Have you tried this Grilled Ginger-Sesame Chicken Salad? If not, you should try it this weekend. The dressing is amazing!

3. We were pretty busy this week with all of O's pre- preschool activities. We met some classmates for a park play date on Tuesday, I went to his school orientation Wednesday night and yesterday he got to see his classroom and met his teacher. We're getting really excited for the actual start day next week!

4. O and I put up some Fall decorations yesterday and he really got into all the fun!  I had to explain to him that we weren't quite ready for the Halloween stuff, but that the pumpkins and cinnamon scented pine cones were fine. I still have to search for my beloved blown glass pumpkins!

5. Owen has been so easy at bedtime for the past two weeks, so I just have to share since he has never been easy to put down for the night. A few months ago I stopped rocking him all the way to sleep because I was having to stay in the room for 30-45 minutes to make it happen. I just too frustrated and resentful having to be in there for so long at the end of the day, so I would just rock for 20 minutes and lay him down. In the beginning he would cry and bit before settling himself down and eventually falling asleep. Over time he's needed less and less time to be rocked and has settled down faster and faster. Then this week came the biggest change -- he now let's me lay him down in his crib fully awake, cover him with a blanket, turn on his nightlight, give him his doggy and kiss him good night. He even says "Night night, mommy! Sleep tight!". This change not only makes bedtime easier, but I actually look forward to it because I love seeing him so content and comfortable in his routine. Makes me feel like we're actually doing it right!

On that note, hope you all have a lovely weekend! We'll be busy attending a family reunion, hosting some friends for football on Sunday and running errands (maybe a hair appointment for me?!) Monday.

yay for an easier bedtime. Bedtime battles or anythign that drags it out at the end of the day is just not good. Glad you guys find a good new routine that works. I love your fall decor - pumpkins in your lantern - genius! I'll have to remember that for next year because right now I have no idea what box my lantern is packed away in!! :)

I'm so happy for you that bedtime has become so easy! We've made lots of progress too, but I'm still laying down with Liam til he falls asleep! I dream of the day when I can just say goodnight and walk out of the room!

Im so behind with the Fall Decor. Hopefully I can get some up tomorrow. Glad bedtime has gotten easier. Definitely so much nicer when you can just tuck them in and say good night!
