January Stitch Fix Review (Box #5)

I received my January Stitch Fix box yesterday and couldn't wait to open it! I waited for O to go down for his nap and then tried everything on, and took pictures too of course so I could get your opinion!

If you're wondering what Stitch Fix is, or how it works... It's a personal shopping service, and all you have to do to get started is fill out the Stitch Fix Style Profile and our personal stylists will handpick a selection of five clothing items and accessories unique to your taste, budget and lifestyle. You can buy what you like and return the rest! The styling fee is $20, and if you pick something from your fix that fee is applied to whatever you decided to buy!

If you've never tried Stitch Fix before I highly recommend giving it at least one try. It is so much fun! And if you do decide to sign up please use my referral link --- thank you thank you!

My stylist, Robyn, wrote a nice little message telling me that she checked out my blog and Pinterest boards to get an idea for what I like.

Love seeing how they style each piece, and in looking back, I can see how some of the pieces I didn't like may have seemed cute from the picture. Not everything looks as cute on though, unfortunately!

Item #1: Tucker Mixed Print 3/4 Sleeve Blouse by Renee C ($54.00) - At first I didn't think I liked this blouse, but then later I tried it on with jeans instead of burgundy cords and I changed my mind. It's kind of wild and loud, which I don't ever go for. The backside has a little slit in it, which is fun too. I'm almost positive I want to keep this.

Item #2: Jonas Mixed Material Top by Skies are Blue ($58.00) - I liked this top in the photo on the card, but didn't see anything special about it when I tried it on. I think I could find something like this at Old Navy, and my goal is to find things I wouldn't regularly buy.

Item #3: Burgdorf Diamond Printed Henley Blouse by Fun2Fun ($38.00) - While I liked the shape, fit and cut of this top, I really disliked the print. The color is not one I usually buy for myself because I don't think it looks good with my coloring. Also, something about it reminds me of The Brady Bunch?

Item #4: Harriet Chevron Print Detail Dress by 41Hawthorn ($64.00) - I absolutely hate this dress. I'm way over chevron print things and the waist hit at a weird spot that made me look wider than I do. The neckline was too high too for a dress like this.

Item #5: Baxley Zipper Detail Skinny Jean by Kut From the Kloth ($88) - Robyn earned major points from me for picking a perfect pair of skinny jeans! Seriously, I have the hardest time finding pants that fit right and these are totally awesome. They are comfortable and cute and different from my go-to Ann Taylor LOFT pair. I have a really hard time finding pants. I usually hate how jeans look on me, they're uncomfortable and almost always have a huge hap in the back. I'm pretty sure I'll keep these!

SO, what do you think I should keep? I usually only let myself keep one thing from each box.

You can see my other Stitch Fix reviews here: March '14 and June '14. I skipped blogging about the ones I received in July and August, but I promise to share the rest from here on out.

I have to say, it's definitely not your best fix. I like the dress best, but I'm with you on being over chevron....

You have to keep the jeans for sure! They are super cute on you! And I like the first top too...is it comfortable? Can you move your arms comfortably? If yes, then I say you have to keep it too!

I say keep the jeans. That first top would be a bit too crazy for me! I do have to say that I got the diamond print top in navy rather than the color you got, and the navy is MUCH better - I think if they had sent that color instead you may have liked it more!

the jeans look amazing--keep! i also LOVE that white top on you. it's probably true that you could find something sort of similar at old navy, but it probably wouldn't fit as well/look quite as nice. you'd probably get so much use out of it that it could be worth investing a little more in it. it's a really good basic with a twist. :)

Keeeeeppppp the jeans!

Totally agree about the Brady bunch lol. I'm the same as you, my goal is to find something unique that I wouldn't normally pick for myself or find cheaper at like target.

If you only keep one thing, keep the jeans. I agree about the shirts, the brady bunch one does make your boobs look great ;) but it almost seems like it's too small. Like it'd be more work appropriate than blousey mom-wear. (not a bad thing, it's what I live in!) I like the white shirt, but agree not enough to keep it and I'm a little iffy on the blue top. If it were me, I'd probably wonder if I would actually ever really wear it.... I sometimes buy things bc I think they are fun and cute and look great on others, but somehow feel a bit insecure wearing it myself. If you think you'll wear it, keep it... if not sure, you probably wont. I get my next fix in a month, can't wait!

I agree about the shirts. They all fit well, but not moveable enough for me. Even the white one, which was a little big, still didn't move well. I decided just to keep the jeans, even though I liked the blue top I just don't know if I'd wear it much since it is so busy. Thanks so much for your input!

Thanks! I kept them :)

Thanks! I think I would have regretted it if I didn't keep them -- I almost had no choice!!

Thanks! I saw the navy version on your blog and I really like it a lot more in that color! The color I was sent (peach and brown) as just an awful combo for the print.

Thank you! I liked the blue top, and yes it was totally comfortable, but I decided to send it back since it is a little too busy and I am keeping the jeans -- I try to only keep on thing from each "fix".

I usually like that style / cut dress, but this one seem like an even cheaper version of something you'd find at Francesa's. I wasn't too pleased with the blouses, but the jeans were amazing so I kept them.

SO true! How could I pass up jeans that fit so well and were comfortable?!

Colleen said...

Thanks lady! You are obviously an authority on style! :) I really wanted to like the white top, but for playing and cleaning and cooking it just didn't work well.

Colleen said...

I did, I kept the jeans :) Hoping my next fix has more tops I would actually buy and wear!

thanks! i was so pleasantly surprised!

I totally agree with all of your picks and misses. The Brady Bunch shirt would look good in an office, but I don't love it enough to keep KWIM? I LOVE the Tucker shirt on you. And lately I'm hearing EVERYWHERE about Kut from the Kloth. I guess I need to go try some on and see for myself. Thanks for the good review. :)

And agree - I'm soooooo over Chevron! I wish it would go away!
