Meet the Sullivans: 4th of July!

July 6, 2015

4th of July!

Good morning, I hope you had a great holiday weekend! We sure did!

Friday night we got together with family to watch fireworks! Every year our neighborhood recreation center sets off fireworks at the elementary school the night before the 4th. We arrived over 2 hours early and were still barely able to get a spot to sit. It was so crowded!

The fireworks were beautiful and Owen marched and jumped and cheered through the entire show. The Stanford Jr. Marching Band played through the show and at the end they played "All Right Now" and it was like being back at a high school football game!

We didn't get home until after 10:30pm and we were all really tired! Owen went right to sleep after we turned out his lights.

Saturday morning Keith let me sleep in and brought me a latte in bed, which made it really hard to get out of bed, but I did because we had a fun day ahead! We prepped some snacks, desserts, drinks and cleaned up the house for the afternoon before heading off to the parade with our friends the Rutherfords.

The parade is so much fun for the kids! I think one of the best parts for them is the loads of candy that gets thrown from cars and floats. We came home with way too much!

After the parade we had lunch at the BBQ and the kids played midway games! Owen did really well and won a blow-up pickax and sword, which he absolutely loves.

In the afternoon we came back to our house to hangout and let the kids play. We had made some fruit infused water, which I will absolutely make sangria next year ;) Patriotic fruit skewers and Cheesecake Skewers, which I will share with you tomorrow, as well as some other snacks.

We had a such a nice time hanging out with friends and family over the holiday weekend! How was your weekend?
