Meet the Sullivans: Let's Take a Guess!

Let's Take a Guess!

I've been losing lots of sleep lately, and it's not just because getting comfortable is hard these days, but also because I am just SO excited to know the gender of our baby! With Owen, we waited until he was born to know, which was a lot of fun! This time we decided to find out the gender or our baby before birth, really just because we already did it the other way and this way sounds like a fun thing to try too.

Knowing ahead of time also makes a whole lot of sense this time around since we'll be able to donate or giveaway what we wouldn't need if the baby is a girl and I can go ahead and sort and wash all the boy clothes ahead of time if we're having another boy.

Everyone wants to know if I know what we're having through some kind of mommy sixth sense. I don't feel strongly either way, and have no preference. We're just so excited we get to grow our family and we're excited to see what God has in store for us! But that doesn't mean it's not fun to take a guess and see what the old wives tales have to say!

High or Low? Rumor has it that if you are carrying your baby high, it's a girl. Carrying low? Stock up on blue.

I'd say it might be too early to say where my bump lies, but right now it seems on the higher side.

the verdict: GIRL

Body Clues. Legends say that if you are having a little girl, she'll steal your beauty. So, if you've got acne and other not-so-pretty skin blemishes, you've got a little princess coming your way.
Dry hands and cold feet are signs of a boy. So, if you've got these ailments, break out the baby blue.

Like I said yesterday in my 18 week update, my skin isn't really broken out, but it's spotty. My hands haven't been dry and my feet haven't been cold.

the verdict: GIRL

Swing of the Ring. Here's a fun one— take off your wedding ring, tie it to a piece of string, and hang it over your belly. If it swings in a circle, you are promised a boy; back and forth indicates a girl.

I tried the trick with a piece of string and my wedding ring two time and it swung back and forth.

the verdict: GIRL

Sweet or Sour. Craving sweets? Craving something sweet? According to some, that means your going to have a little girl. Salty and sour cravings indicate a boy.

I have had cravings for all sorts of foods, but the most prominent has been for salty things like olives, wasabi and salmon. I've also been craving juices and iced tea, but I think that's mostly about thirst and not the sweetness.

the verdict: BOY

More Than Just a Number. Chinese birth charts use your age at conception and the month you conceived to determine the sex of your baby.

the verdict: BOY

Morning Sickness. According to the old wives' tales, morning sickness means pink. They say that if you're stricken with a queasy stomach during your first trimester, think ribbons and bows. If you sail through your pregnancy with nary an upset stomach, it's blue all the way.

I don't believe this to be true at all since I was very sick with Owen, and he's obviously a boy. I was sick this time too.

the verdict: BOY

Dreams. If you're wishing, hoping, and especially dreaming about having a baby girl... sorry, but the stork is going to drop off a bundle of male joy! If you're dreaming about your future daughter, then you'll be blessed with a boy.

I've really only had one dream where I knew the gender of the baby, and it was a little boy.

the verdict: GIRL

Well, according to these tales our baby would be a girl, but only by one point. It's also fun to note what those close to us are guessing...

Owen thinks the baby will be a boy. Keith thinks it will be a girl, and both our moms think boy.

What do you think? Will our baby be a boy or a girl? Leave a comment below with your predictions!

I'm going with GIRL purely because your new blog design is pink and blue and you already have a boy. Very scientific! lol

I honestly have NO idea what you're having, and clearly I'm the worst at predicting! I can't wait to hear the news :) :)
