Meet the Sullivans: Luke is ONE Month!

Luke is ONE Month!

Dear Luke,

This week you turned ONE month old! The month since you were born has gone by quickly, but you've already changed so much. We feel like you've been a part of our family forever!

Stats: (we're going for your 1 month visit this morning, so we'll know your stats later today!)

Clothes: You're just barely fitting into newborn clothes right now, which is mostly because of your length. You're a long boy! I dress you in jammies and sleep and play outfits mostly and only get you dressed in "real" clothes every once in a while. And your dad and I think you hate hats. Every time we put a hat on you you fuss a bit, and then if the hat falls over your keys you wail.

Eating: You love to feed! You eat every 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hours during the day, unless you sleep through a feeding. The number of times you eat during the night all depends on how many times you wake up.

Sleep: You are spending more and more time awake these days! You take a handful of short naps throughout the day and two prolonged ones that can last a couple hours. You're really good at sleeping in your car seat and will mostly take a good nap in your bouncy chair too. Your sleep at night is unpredictable at this point. You've slept for two 5 hour stretches and one 6 hour stretch! On a good night you give us a 3-4 hour stretch somewhere in there too.  When you wake up at night I change your diaper and then feed you. After nursing I burp you and hold you for about 10minutes before laying you back down in the co-sleeper. You usually go right back to sleep without needing to be soothed.

Health: You are a healthy baby and you're growing like a weed, but you caught your first cold on New Year's Eve. Chalk it up to being a winter baby and a second child.

Activity: Still not loving tummy time, but tolerating it. You've already rolled over once from your tummy to your back (at about 2 weeks), and you love getting time to squiggle body, kick your legs and punch your arms.

Outings: You've been to World Market to shop with mom, the Hillier Aviation Museum on NYE, various doctor appointments, to mom's friends' Christmas party and to aunt Kelly's house many times. We also took you to church for the first time yesterday. Your doctor suggested we keep you away from crowded places until you're 3 months old so we're trying our best to keep to that, although starting next week we'll have to venture out of the house a few days a week to bring Owen to school and taekwondo.

I asked Owen if he had anything he wanted to add and he said:

"I wish your cold would go away! And I wish you could play Star Wars with me, Luke! And pretend to drive in my mommy and daddy's car with me! I wish you and me could play with Eeyore.I wish we could play baseball together and Daddy too." I'd also like to add that Owen told us that Luke is his "favorite friend ever", which just about melted my heart!

Luke you're an absolutely JOY in our lives! You're a sweet baby and even your cries are tender and gentle. We love seeing you awake and alert, and we can't wait to get to know your personality more!

xoxox, Mommy and Daddy
