Luke is 8 Months!

Dear Luke,

Last week you turned 8 months old! You're growing so fast and getting SO big! We're starting to see more of your personality these days and it's really fun!

Stats:  I'm guessing that you weigh close to 20lbs right now! You are wearing 9 month and 6-12 month clothes, although sizes really vary by brand, so it is hard to say for sure. We'll be moving on from the size 3 diapers after our current box because they seem to be getting snug on you.
Eating: You're eating about 2-3 meals a day depending on how hungry you seem and where your naps fall. We attempt 3 meals, but sometimes you're just too tired. You're still nursing on demand. You're a very distracted nurser these days, so it is hard to feed you on-the-go unless we can find a quite spot. You tried puffs, although you aren't able to get too many in your mouth. They're fun for you to grab at and keep you entertained, and you're SO proud of yourself when you do manage to get one in your mouth.

Sleep: Sleep has improved slightly since last month. You're doing a few nights a week now only waking up 2-3 times instead of your previous 1.5 hour wake ups. The biggest challenge is putting you to sleep. I was laying you down and letting you work it out, and eventually you would fall asleep, but now since you've learned to sit up on your from laying down, that's all you want to do. Sigh.

Still going strong with 2, sometimes 3 naps a day.

Health: You had some diarrhea last month (I'm sure you'll love to read all about this when you're older). We went to the doctor a few times, but they never knew what was causing it. They even ran some tests and everything came back fine. I think the probiotics we gave you helped you get through it because now you're all better.

  • You are after everything you can get your little hands on! Plants, Owen's toys, Owen, water bottles, my jewelry, anything!
  • You've been able to put your paci in your mouth all on your own for a while now.
  • You are thisclose to crawling and get up on your hands and knees and rock back and forth.
  • You can get from your tummy or back, up to sitting position now.
  • You love to hear yourself babble. You say "dadadadada" "rarararbababrara" and I think we've heard "mmmmmammmm" a couple times now too!

Likes: Your brother! You and him crack each other up. You love to grab the hat off his head. I pray for him and what will happen when you get mobile. You also love going for walks in your stroller, and sitting in highchairs at a restaurant (Mr. Popular!).

Dislikes: Your rain forest bouncer, being put in your carseat (although you're fine moments after being strapped in), having shirts put over your head.

My sweet little baby boy, you're definitely attached to mommy these days. If I've been away from you for any amount of time you squeal and then cry upon seeing me. I love this stage of babyhood, and watching you discover things each day. I'm soaking it all in and trying to enjoy each moment with you!

Love, Mommy
