Weekending: Red, White & Brews

Did you all have a nice long weekend? We sure did, and the highlight was quite possibly our Saturday spent at California's Great America's Red, White and Brews celebration!

Red, White & Brews is a hometown celebration of Americana food and fun, takes place May 27-29 and June 3-4. Red, White & Brews will bring the Hometown Square area of the park to life with locally sourced food experiences, more than 25 regional craft brews, Northern California wines, Bay Area bands, outdoor games and kids’ entertainment. Plus, fireworks will light the sky at 9:15 pm on May 27-28 and June 3-4!

If you saw my Instastories from Saturday you saw how much fun we all had checking out the food, games, drinks and rides!

Owen was super excited to get to Great America Saturday morning and once we got there the first thing he wanted to do was find some rides! He's already a little thrill seeking roller coaster lover!

This is him retelling his experience on Psycho Mouse roller coaster to me after he and Keith went on it together. I got to ride it with him again later that day and it was crazy! There are so many sharp turns and quick drops.

Keith and I were looking forward to getting to try some of the craft brews they were pouring. We started off with a Ballast Point Dorado.

Craft beer and wine tasting cards are $25 per person for six, six-ounce samples and feature renowned and niche microbreweries from throughout Northern California, including Gordon Biersch, Sierra Nevada, Anchor, Stone, Mendocino, Hanger 24, Speakeasy Ales & Lagers and many others. Wine pouring options include William Hill, Flora Springs, J. Lohr, White Oak, Concannon and more.

They also have the San Jose Brew Bike running throughout the day so you can take a little ride around the park while you enjoy your drinks. We didn't get to try it this time. but it looks like so much fun!

They transformed Hometown Square into what felt like a real hometown festival complete with music and even balloon artists, live music and dueling pianos too!

Owen asked for a snake and it was the coolest balloon animal he's even had! And it's still going strong.

We loved getting to try all the different foods like smoked chicken drumsticks (Ownen's favorite!), and spicy roasted corn on the cob!

I think the tombstone slider, topped with mini fried onion rings, was both Keith and my favorite!

In between beer tasting, food tasting and balloon animals Owen got to try a few rides and some games! We went on Psycho Mouse twice, did the Mass Effect ride two times and rode the old fashioned cars!

We rounded out the day with some toys and a couple desserts. We tried the interesting combo of apple pie, bacon and cheddar and strawberry shortcake.

We had so much fun and both kids were ready for a nap by the end of the day, and so were we. If you have a chance this fun event is definitely worth checking out!

Did you have a fun Memorial Day weekend?
